Rasurkultur: Tools and Rituals Event

Visit our London store on Thursday, May 16th, for an evening of brush-making and shaving demonstrations, trivia, and bubbles. Managing director Christian Müller will share his expertise on the process of making a shaving brush. The right amount of vegan Silvertip Fibre® is weighed to the very last gram, fashioned into shape, and carefully bound, ready to be attached to a meticulously crafted handle.

Brush making is a traditional craft in the German Ore Mountains where MÜHLE was established in 1945 and continues to manufacture shaving and grooming goods today. A legacy passed down from generation to generation, the painstaking craft would have previously been done with natural hair. MÜHLE continues to use these traditional methods to create its own vegan Silvertip Fibre® products.

This is followed by another live demonstration hosted by London head barber Oran Lasocki, who shares best practices on wet shaving, from prepping with a shaving brush and cream to the shave itself, and aftercare.

This non-ticketed event runs from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm and is open to everyone. As the venue can host a maximum of 25 people, please arrive early to avoid disappointment.

Exhibition

In addition to the demonstrations, our mini-exhibition Rasurkultur: Tools and Rituals is open to the public throughout the week during store opening hours. An exploration of the ‘fine luxurious touch’ that has always characterized wet shaving, the exhibition will be held in the lower ground floor barbershop and includes exclusive shaving sets, vintage razors and brushes, and a curated gallery showcasing craftsmanship processes.

The EDITION shaving sets are available to view and purchase. Made from extraordinary materials like ancient oak, gleaming carbon, and hand-painted Meissen porcelain, they are the crowning glory of the MÜHLE program. Explore the full series here.

What is London Craft Week?

London Craft Week is a city-wide festival celebrating exceptional craftsmanship across multiple sectors and disciplines from around the world. Through a curated program of events, they shine a light on the creative talent behind some of the world’s most beautiful objects, telling stories of their inspiration, process, and materials.

2024 will be the tenth-anniversary edition of London Craft Week. Since its inception in 2015, the festival has grown significantly in scale and prominence with nearly a quarter of a million visitors enjoying the work of more than 700 makers at events put on by over 200 partners from 40 countries in 2023.
